Re-Launch of www.tools4etsy.com
- Friday 27th August 2010 - 8pm
- We have rebuilt Tools4Etsy from the ground up both on the client-side and on the server-side to simplify and enrich our tools. Changes include:
- Appearance
- The look and layout of the site has changed. We've kept some of the subtle colors of the old site but the structure and elements are re-designed for readability and to reduce the number of clicks required. Information and statistics uses a standard template to reduce the learning curve for new users and increase readability and accessability. Where we could we've cross-integrated all tools so to look at any information is only a click away. More information on how the features work and what the information and statistics offer, there is a comprehensive Help Page currently being finalised but is viewable.
- New Tools
- Consolidated Feedback Tool is the first of many new tools that we're adding to Tools4Etsy. The Consolidated Feedback Tool takes information scattered across many pages on Etsy and reduces to a simple to read Consolidated view by Listing item sold or bought depending if you're viewing as a Buyer or Seller.
- Etsy Treasury is now available using Tools For Etsy. Not only can you see the latest Treasury on our Front Page that's updated ever couple of minutes, but you can also view All Treasuries, <Search Treasuries by Keyword, or Search a specific <User's Treasury. We'll be tightly integrating <Etsy Treasury thoughout tools4etsy.com so that you'll be able to see if a User or Shop has Treasuries and go straight to see them through a single click (check this out on our Front Page). If you click on the Treasury Title in Treasury Keyword Search or Treasury By User Search, you'll be taken to a page with large images for easy viewing.
- New Features
- Many of the old Features are still there however we've enhanced them with features like search memory, and easy to read statistics. If there's more detailed information available, it's linked so that all information available is only a single click away.
- Last 5 Feedback as Seller is now integrated into the Listing by Shop Search. Now, if you want to see what Buyers are saying about a Seller, click on the Feedback Show/Hide link and the last 5 feedback will slide out. A Link is also included if you want to see all Feedback in more detail via a single click.
- Built on V2.0 Etsy API
- Etsy are building a new Third-Party Developer API and parts of Tools4Etsy is built with this new API. At this state the V2.0 Etsy API is still being built and we may experience some problems however Etsy are quick to support. If you're a Microsoft DotNet developer, like v1.0 of the Etsy API, we are happy to make our Libraries Free-of-Charge. Like Etsy, the EtsyV2Net & EtsyV2Cache Libraries are a work in progress however if you contact us, we are happy to make the libraries available. Sample source code is included so that you can get up and running quickly. If you're already using our V1 Etsy API libraries, then upgrading to V2.0 is very straight forward. Please Note: Etsy will be turning off the V1.0 API 1st November - you can read more at Etsy Developer Community Site.
- Features Removed
- This is something that we don't like to do. unfortunately, the V1.0 API will be going offline in just over a month. Sadly, we've had to remove the Gift Guides. However, V2.0 has included Treasuries - we have already started to release tools for Treasuries and more will follow.
- We have also had to reduce the size of the lovely listing images from Etsy Sellers from 200 x 200 pixels to 170 x 135 pixels. This change is due to Etsy's new image policy with the revamp of their site.
- Donations
- www.tools4etsy.com is a free service for Etsy Buyers and Sellers run by a husband and wife team at our own expense. All Tools, Advertising, developer libraries are free of charge. Running a site like www.tools4etsy.com has a financial cost. To help subsidise the running costs, we've included goolge adsense. If you find our site useful and you wish to contribute to the costs of running and developing new tools, we've also added a donations button to some pages and would appreciate the support.
