Overview EtsySaver Screensaver

My wife has an ETSYTM shop under the sellers name of SpunkYarn and she wanted a set of tools to work with Etsy. I was faced with how to work with the site - EtsyScrapper was born at the end of 2008.

The key concern with scrapping web pages is being black listed. Thankfully, the ETSYTM team started a closed BETA of a new RESTful API interface of their website, now live at developer.etsy.com - announcement can be found at their The Storque blog. EtsyNET API Library was born.

When the Allow Selection feature is active, EtsySaver becomes a powerful tool for researching feeds to watch out for something of interest for yourself, someone's birthday, or that special occasion. If you're an ETSYTM shop owner, you could use EtsySaver as a research tool to find materials or see what others shop owners are up to...

Key Features of EtsySaver Screensaver

EtsySaver is the first toy that I've written for my wife and publically released. Features include:

  • Multi-monitor support with listings (feed items) being randomly shown on each monitor
  • Zoom-in with fade out - timings fully configurable
  • Fully configurable timings and image cluttering
  • Real-time background downloading of feed listings (items) and images
  • Random or sequential playback of listings
  • Supports optional highlighting and clicking through to the listing page!

Installation Instructions

  • Copy the EtsySaver.scr & EtsyNET.dll files to a convenient location on your C: drive;
  • Right click the .scr file;
  • Select Install;
  • If you don't have the .Net 3.5sp1 runtime installed on your system, then select the download link above to install.

Configuration Instructions

  • In the Windows Screen Saver setup Dialog (under Display settings in Windows XP), select the EtsySaver screen saver.
  • Click Settings button. In the Settings dialog, you can adjust timing and select either User, shop, Category, Tag, or Gift Guide feeds.

How-to use Instructions in 'Allow Selection' mode

  • Move the mouse over a listing to glow (highlight) and click to be taken to the listing page.
  • Click on the desktop or press any key to exit.
